- The name of the fictional corporation is Chaank Armaments Corporation.

- The name of the secret project involving brain-wiping battle veterans who are presumed MIA and fitting them with power armor, Hardman, is a likely homage to GE's proposed Hardiman 1 exoskeleton powered suit.
The Hardman suit does in fact have a real-world analog, it is very similar in looks and working principals to Tsukuba University's HAL 5, which is due to be in production by the end of 2005 in Japan.

- The names of the eco-terrorists, Weyland and Yutani, are references to the fictional Weyland-Yutani corporation featured in the movie Aliens, and informally Alien as well.

- The name of the character "Scott Ridley" is a reference to the director Ridley Scott who directed Alien.

- The name of the character "Raimi" is a reference to the director Sam Raimi.

- The name of the character "Jack Dante" is a reference to the director Joe Dante.

- The name of the character "John Carpenter" is a reference to the director John Carpenter

- The writing on the Hardman headgear Raimi wears reads "Cameron Unit 04", likely being a reference to the director James Cameron who directed The Terminator and Aliens.

- Raimi makes numerous references to movies and actors, such as Stallone's The Specialist, Scarface, and mimics Arnold Schwarzenneger's "I'll be back" line from The Terminator complete with mock accent.

Ha! Cute stuff. There's another "Terminator" reference(of a sort). When the director goes to find Dante, she looks at the door to his lab, and it's covered with paint and grafitti(sp?)

Anyhow, she bends down and reads a bit of what appears to be poem, but it's a quote from Sarah in "The Terminator"---something about having loved a lifetime? Love Now I've forgotten it! d'oh! Shoot, now I'll have to go look it up and come back to post it here. Sigh

I think the mimicking of Arnie and "I'll be back" was said by Dante, not Raimie, who was mocking the Czech High Factor Babe, after hesaid it. Again, I could very well be wrong. Most likely I am. OH, OH!!! The Babe was one of the (many) cute bad-guys in "Die Hard"! Drool

Thanks for the trivia! I have to watch "Death Machine" again and try to see that Cameron reference Smile

William Hootkins gets ripped to death by a robot in Hardware, then gets ripped to death by a robot in Death Machine.
