Dear Mr. Norrington...

|

Dear Mr Norrington, If one day you see this message, I hope you won't take it badly if I tell you I didn't know about you until recently. A friend of mine introduced me to your work and I was very impressed. Of-course I would have done it better but I am always saying this about everything so may be this is not objective ...
More seriously I was happy to discover you through your works and you seem to be a very meticulous person with a concern of the detail, which is something I greatly appreciate!
If it's not too indiscreet, may I ask you how you began ? I mean was it something you always wanted to do (puppets, sculptures, SFX, directing and so on...), or was it by circumstance you opened the doors of the 7th Arts ?
Finally, I hope (and I am certainly not the only one) that you'll continue to express your talent and tell us again fantastic stories on the big screen.
Cordially, |

The answer to your question is...
|
|
|
Stephen began, even before his career, by experimenting with special effects. I knew him fairly well at school but only went round his house the once. I remember he had a skull thing he had built that was operated from beneath and had moving eyes. Given the base materials he or I would have had around as just schoolkids it was pretty cool and professional, though perhaps not quite up to film standards. (more to do with the available parts than his skill I should think).
I hope this answers your question and given just how far he's taken it also enthuses you to just start off with whatever you can lay your hands on. ...You never know!
John
P.s. Hi Steve if you do ever read this. I make that you, me and Jamie Stewart of The Cult all in Miss Bowden's German class. I wrote this world impacting puppy, which I thought was a pretty good outcome for a life... http://www.efitforwindows.com , but I guess in this company it leaves me a very poor third. Congrats on all you've done. Love the films - really do. |

Welcome John!
What a wonderful post! Thank you very much for the info---you were classmates---that is so neat!
You sound like a pretty amazing person yourself--I visited the site you provided --of course I want to ply you with questions, but I'll refrain myself for now since . . . well, for a bit.
Again, a big welcome to our newest Tribe of Stephen member

Hi there,
I found your site a few months ago and liked it so I decided to join up and
say hello.Stephen is my brother so it is interesting for me to read what you
all think about him and his films.
I can still remember him running through the woods wearing a home made 'planet of the apes' monkey mask and mixing up fake blood in the kitchen sink!!

What you're saying is so much fun, I can easily imagine this!
If you are siblings, can you share any news about Stephen, and if we can expect to see some of his work again?
