I really do not care about negativity and who is suing who and who did a bad job of directing and who's fault things are and blah, blah, blah.
This was a great movie. It was fun. It was sexy. It was exciting. It took a pretty good comic and really blasted the character of Blade to a much higher level of importance as far as comic book heros go, AND film action heros.
In my opinion, putting Blade on film really created a new and unique and important hero---and he IS important.
I hate to see him just die out. I think Blade has gone beyond the point of just being a "fanchaise" and an argument of who started what first.
Filmdom shouldn't let Blade go. I really would have like to have seen Blade as the start of a new movement in blaxploitation films, but not one devoted to the world of poverty, depression and eternal struggle.
The first movie was the beginning of something that could have been really great. I hope people calm down and realize how important their work was. Being the first in any movement forces the actors and film makers into a position of responsibility that they might not want or might want but might not be able to handle, but oh well.
I guess I"m just greedy. We're just going to rework old movies for the next decade, instead of continuing the struggle that all creative people are forced to go through when they really forge something new.
Darn it. |

I love the Blade films. The first two are amazing works of action art. The first two had great scripts and even better directors. Directors who brought their own style and flairs to the films. Funny how almost all the Blade films were a step ahead of any other film at the time. They kinda did that bullet time thing, kung fu type fighting and light uses for wire works before the Matrix was even made. Then Blade 2 introduced us to CGI boudes doubles and even full on fights with only using CGI body doubles before the second matrix.
Sadly I think that stopped with Trinity. While I do like the film alot. I think it was hurt by Goyer's lack of real talent as a director. He didn't bring anything new to the table. While the the other films were a step ahead Goyer took it a step back and did stuff that other action movies have been going. |

If the TV series is a sucess, I think we can see a rebirth of Blade on the big screen.
However, it can be movie(s) adapted from the series with the new elements introduced for the TV.

May be it has nothing to do, but Trinity was released "only" 2 years after Blade 2 ... it may not be long enought to work and develop new and innovative things. Just a thought |

Sadly, it seemed like our BLADE series was little watched!
Maybe if David Goyer's THE INVISIBLE is successful enough, he can gather some suport for another Blade film.
Maybe they could launch a new comic series based around Blade (the movie Blade, not TOMB OF DRACULA blade)... |
