SN's role on Hardware/Alien 3?
|

Apologies if this is posted in the wrong section, but...
Does anybody have any idea what specific designs and/or areas Stephen Norrington worked on during the production of Hardware and Alien 3?
And, er, if you used cinematic magic to merge Alien 3 with Hardware and then injected it with humour, would you not have Death Machine?
Hence my curiosity... |

That's kinda true On another note, the War Beast moves like the alien Queen in one of the scenes, did you notice that? It's pretty neat. And at another point, it looked like the T-rex from "Jurassic Park".
With "Hardware", well, I thought he made the 'bot's head. But I can't remember where I got that from and it's possible I'm confusing him with another guy. As far as "Aliens3" goes---ya got me again. I hope someone answers. I've been looking for well over a year, trying to find out exactly what he did in it. His list of credits on the board of that, uh, "Other Place Of Which We Resently Do Not Speak Of" is pretty thin. He's done ton more work than what's there.
Like I said, I hope someone comes up with the info, because in addition to being curious, I wanted to add some snaps of his work to the "gallery"
Oh, and your post is in the right place |

This may not be of great help but in the Alien 3 credits :
However I can't tell you which scenes he worked on. |

I heard he was one of the facehugger designers on Aliens, but I've no idea if he reprised the role on Alien 3. I was kinda hoping that he'd sculpted part of the dog-Alien puppet, although I've no idea whether he did or not.
It would be nice if he'd had a hand in designing the robot's head in Hardware - that was a really striking image.
Oh, and what else has Norrington done besides that which is listed on the "Other Place Of Which We Resently Do Not Speak Of"?
I can't believe I've only just noticed Norrington, so to speak. |

Mercury will better answer you, but he also participated to the make-up of Hellraiser 4 ( I started a discussion on Hellraiser if some of you are interested )
He also did the make-up of the High Witch from the movie "The Witches"
And from what I understood in Aliens (the second) he did at least this :

You might be confusing him with another guy.
Richard Stanley, Hardware's director, mentions that it was Bob Keen and Chris Hall who designed the Mark 13. Chris Hall's probably better known now as Chris Cunningham, the music director and (presumed) Norrington-collaborator. At least, they worked on a number of films together and share the same taste in design and music as each other.
Oh well. |

Then I guess he did movable stuff--robotics. That's what he's listed for, sorry for the boo-boo. I've never been able to get that robot's head out of my own head. I don't know about anyone else, but I loved it!
Chris Cunningham(VERY talented, yes) and Stephen Norrington both worked on "Hardware", "Death Machine" and "Aliens3", then. I didn't know SN worked on face-huggers, though, in "Aliens"---KEWL!!! But he did work on the alien head that Hicks blasted with the shotgun. At least, that's what one of the guys in a documentary said who worked with him.
What would be really nice though, would be a complete list of things to oogle over. Maybe some day we'll get that. There used to be a folder in the Yahoo "Tribe" group called Steve's Kids, or something like that. I had started a collection of anything he worked on. I never put up more than a few pics, but maybe we can start up a new topic called the same and start again. I'd love to know what he did exactly in "Greystoke" and he also does uncredited things, too, like he worked on Pearl from "Blade", he assisted Gary Tunnicliffe with Frosts "vial" make-up(I've got a cute pic of that) and did a little concept work for David Goyer for "Trinity"(but I don't think anything got into the movie; I'm not sure) "The Storyteller" is something I want badly! I know he worked on at least two of the episodes, maybe three.
So I'd like to create a "Steve's Kids" topic/forum.
I won't push for the re-enstatement of the "Steve's Back" folder, though.
I promise I won't |
